These outline Victoria’s 4 bin system and recycling requirements.

Food: Fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, eggs, bread, coffee grounds.

Garden: Leaves, grass clippings, weeds, small branches.

Other: Paper towel, tissues, compostable packaging (check council).

Plastics: Bags, containers, soft plastics.

Liquids: No liquids or general waste.

Contaminants: Nappies, sanitary items.

Non-compostable: Coffee pods, cups, treated wood.

Contaminated paper: Waxed paper, magazines.

  • Use compostable liners or newspaper (no plastic bags).
  • Remove stickers from fruit/veg peels.
  • Cool hot food before disposal.
  • Place garden waste at bottom to reduce odours.
  • Keep lid closed and clean bin regularly.
