Council is seeking feedback on the proposed road renaming of a section of Duncan Street, Ballan to Shamrock Court. Proposed Road Renaming is due to Duncan Street being physically divided by Inglis Street, resulting in two separate, non-contiguous sections that share the same street name. This division creates ongoing confusion for residents, visitors, emergency services, delivery drivers and service providers.

The proposed name ‘Shamrock Court’ holds historical and cultural significance within Ballan. St. Brigid’s Church features entrance gates adorned with shamrocks, crafted by E. Wheelahan and installed in 1912 shortly after the church opened. These gates form part of an important phase in the church’s early Irish heritage.

Council is seeking community feedback on the proposed road discontinuance before making a decision. Feedback can be provided until Sunday 4 October 2026.
