Bacchus Marsh and Ballan Open Space Framework

FAQS

The Bacchus Marsh & Ballan Open Space Framework 2041 has been developed to guide open space planning in the two major growth towns, Bacchus Marsh and Ballan. The development of the Framework was identified as Action 4 of the Bacchus Marsh Urban Growth Framework as short term requirement to inform future growth planning.

A key recommendation of the Framework is that a strategy for the whole of the Shire is developed by 2021. This work will be subject to funding and staffing availability.

The Framework aims to inform discussions between Council, the Victorian Planning Authority and Developers in relation to the planning for and provision of Open Space in new residential developments. In addition, the Framework provides guidance to Council designs and investment for existing open space in Bacchus Marsh and Ballan. The guiding principles will also be applied for any planning for open space that may be undertaking in the smaller towns while the Strategy is being developed.

The Framework does not identify individual reserves for improvements, however it identifies areas where planning for open space should be undertaken primarily to improve access where there is currently a shortage. During the 2019/20 financial year, Council will be undertaking a range of projects – these are listed on page 9 of the Framework.
